Kessel Signs, Vishnevski a Thrasher, Malkin and More

- First round pick Phil Kessel has signed with the Bruins. The deal is a multi-year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed.

- Yesterday, the Anaheim Ducks shipped defenseman Vitaly Vishnevski to the Atlanta Thrashers. In return, the Ducks receive a second round pick in 2007 and a conditional draft pick.

- TSN will air an interview with Evgeni Malkin tonight on sportscentre at 10et.

- Don't read to much into the Malkin to Montreal rumours or the Komisarek, Bonk to NYI stuff. The habs are not prepared to throw away their future just to sign Dumont. Komisarek is a good young defensemen. That is hard to come by in today's nhl.

- The Vancouver Canucks have signed defenseman Rory Fitzpatrick. The team also re-signed Bieksa, and Bouck.

- Edmonton Oilers defenseman Dick Tarnstrom has reportedly signed with Lugano of the Swiss Elite League. This leaves the Oilers with a huge lack of depth on the blueline.

- The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed goaltender Andrew Penner.

- The Blues signed free agent defenseman Jamie Rivers today.

- The Calgary Flames have announced that they have re-signed Matthew Lombardi.

- Owen Nolan signed with the Coyotes a few days ago.

- Flyers sign Nate Guenin.

- Ducks sign Ian Moran.

- Redwings sign Greg Johnson.

- Islanders sign Sean Hill.
