Habs Pick up Traverse

The Habs picked up Patrick Traverse on waivers today. I don't even know what to say.

This is a step back for the organization in my opinion. I thought the habs were moving forward, untill they pick up a piece of garbage like this. Im steamed!

Attention Poolsters: Zherdev signs, finally

Nikolai Zherdev has finally re-signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets. It is a three year deal worth 7.5 M US.

The minute I heard I immideatly jumped onto my fantasy pool to try and pick him up, only to find that someone else had beaten me to the punch. Zherdev adds a lot to the Jackets and they are lucky to have him back. It would be nice to see them make a push for the playoffs this year.

Kessel Signs, Vishnevski a Thrasher, Malkin and More

- First round pick Phil Kessel has signed with the Bruins. The deal is a multi-year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed.

- Yesterday, the Anaheim Ducks shipped defenseman Vitaly Vishnevski to the Atlanta Thrashers. In return, the Ducks receive a second round pick in 2007 and a conditional draft pick.

- TSN will air an interview with Evgeni Malkin tonight on sportscentre at 10et.

- Don't read to much into the Malkin to Montreal rumours or the Komisarek, Bonk to NYI stuff. The habs are not prepared to throw away their future just to sign Dumont. Komisarek is a good young defensemen. That is hard to come by in today's nhl.

- The Vancouver Canucks have signed defenseman Rory Fitzpatrick. The team also re-signed Bieksa, and Bouck.

- Edmonton Oilers defenseman Dick Tarnstrom has reportedly signed with Lugano of the Swiss Elite League. This leaves the Oilers with a huge lack of depth on the blueline.

- The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed goaltender Andrew Penner.

- The Blues signed free agent defenseman Jamie Rivers today.

- The Calgary Flames have announced that they have re-signed Matthew Lombardi.

- Owen Nolan signed with the Coyotes a few days ago.

- Flyers sign Nate Guenin.

- Ducks sign Ian Moran.

- Redwings sign Greg Johnson.

- Islanders sign Sean Hill.

Ales Hemsky has signed a six year deal with the Edmonton Oilers. Great news for Ales and the Oilers.

Eddie the Panther

Not a good move. Belfour needs to retire.
